Saffron spice is the threads of saffron crocus flower and each of these flowers consist of only 3 threads of saffron. Every year saffron flowers are hand-picked one by one during intensive labour harvest by hardworking farmers. It takes almost 170,000 saffron flowers to just make one kilogram of saffron threads.
